Il capo dei servizi segreti tedeschi ha recentemente lanciato un avvertimento riguardante la possibile vulnerabilità ad attacchi informatici dei terminali di gas naturale liquefatto (GNL) localizzati in Germania. Il conflitto tra Russia e Ucraina iniziato lo scorso anno ha influito significativamente sul PIL tedesco causando una riduzione del 2,5% a causa della dipendenza dal gas proveniente dalla Russia. Per trovare alternative il paese ha recentemente noleggiato tre nuovi terminali GNL, con piani per ulteriori strutture in futuro. Il ruolo strategico di queste strutture le pone come possibili obiettivi di futuri attacchi cyber. Ha inoltre dichiarato che Russia e Cina rimangono le principali minacce in campo cyber che la Germania deve affrontare, poiché sono attivamente impegnate nel cyberspazio per danneggiare politica, amministrazione, imprese, ricerca e società tedesche, tuttavia anche altri Stati più piccoli possono rappresentare una minaccia significativa nel cyberspazio, Corea del Nord, Vietnam e soprattutto l’Iran sono, a suo avviso, esempi di Paesi in cui le organizzazioni di hacking sponsorizzate e sostenute dai servizi segreti sono particolarmente attive.
